Meaning it can never get old.
I like my logic. :)
Anyway, you know those songs, that you can listen to forever and never get tired of them? Sometimes, you may feel that this is the case, but soon you'll get tired of the song. But everyonce in a while, you'll get a song that you assume will get old after a while- BUT YOU STILL LISTEN TO IT ANYWAYS- and then, three weeks or so later- you realize that it hasn't gotten old yet! You realize, you can recite this song without music or help from anyone, and get the beats and lyrics exactly right! You realize, you can listen to this song over and over again with the music blaring and you won't once have to turn it off/down because it's either getting annoying, you want more variety, or it's getting too loud and feels like it's repeating. Instead, you want to turn up the music more, and maybe even bother the whole block with the amazingness that is THIS SONG.
And the lyrics, aren't even comparable. You just have to wonder, who wrote this song and where can I buy the drug that they're on when they write these amazing songs? (Note: Never in my life will I participate in drug related activities, but sometimes you wonder what the songwriter is inhaling.) At any rate, you're absolutely in love with the lyrics, they speak to you... and sometimes the lyrics don't have to make sense. In some ways, lyrics that have no straight-forward meaning are the best, as we can interpret them any way we please.
At the moment, there are three songs I'm obsessed with. (Check in with me in a couple weeks- I'll bet you that all but one has changed.) (Don't Fear) the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult, 21 Guns (along with the whole 21st Century Breakdown album- thanks, John for getting me into Green Day!) by Green Day, and The Song I've been talking about this past post- Electric Feel by MGMT. 130 plays on Electric Feel and I've only had this song for about three weeks, maybe less. It's passed the test of time (well, my version of time- any song that lasts about two weeks on my favorite playlist on iTunes is an amazing song), and has become my favorite song. Ah, such an esteemed title! I don't give it out to just any song, because I've had my share of I-Really-Really-Really-Really-Really-Really-Like-This-Song songs, but not a FAVORITE song.
Electric Feel is a masterpiece in my opinion. It's trippy, you can dance to it, it's got a great beat, a whacked music video, and it's not your typical love song. It's more than that. It's about someone who moves you so much, it's like they metaphorically, though somewhat literally put electricity through your veins (although in the song, they're talking about an actual person who literally makes electricity and shocks every boy she touches). It's about love, and, well, sexual encounters, but about meeting someone that's not just a one night stand, but someone who's awesomely amazing and influences your life forever. As MGMT puts it "You are my electric girl." Yeah, I about die at that part.
So, you all know what I'm talking about- that one song that just is, well, AWESOME.
I don't think I'll ever stop liking this song.
